DRUNK DRIVING WARNING SIGNS

By June 10, 2015 August 31st, 2020 DUI Defense

Despite all the drunk-driving campaigns and crackdowns, drunk driving is the most dangerous behavior that any motorist can engage in while driving.  It doesn’t even compare with texting, although that is dangerous too.  Even moderate levels of intoxication can substantially limit a driver’s ability to safely operate his/her motor vehicle or follow the rules of the road.  Unfortunately, tens of thousands of Californians seem to continue to engage in this  irresponsible and reckless behavior each year placing themselves and those around them in serious danger including the possibility of being killed.
It is no secret that drunk driving results in serious car accidents, pedestrian mishaps, and serious hit-and-run related injuries leaving injury victims struggling sometimes for the rest of their lives to deal with the consequences of the accident.  In the worst case scenarios, their families are left coping with the wrongful death of a loved one forever.
At Fiumara & Milligan Law, PC we understand how truly devastating this can be, but we want victims of drunk drivers to know that they are not without the option to pursue full compensation and justice in a CIVIL Court of Law.

The Common Signs of Drunk Driving
There are many indicators of drunk-driving behavior that are commonly recognized indicating that a driver may be intoxicated.  Some of the most common behaviors include but are not limited to:

  1. Drifting in and out of traffic lanes.
  2. Swerving in and out of traffic lanes, or straddling same.
  3. Taking wide turns.
  4. Tailgating and following other cars too closely.
  5. Slowing and accelerating without any rational reason.
  6. Not turning on car lights at night.
  7. Driving down the wrong way on one-way streets and thoroughfares.

If a driver exhibits these common signs of intoxication prior to a traffic accident resulting in an injury to a loved one, the drunk driver could be held liable both in a civil court of law for monetary compensation and as well be criminally prosecuted which will most likely end up as either a jail or prison sentence.
